Auto provisioning explained

Auto provisioning lets Dromlik push a phone's entire configuration — SIP account, codecs, time zone, function keys, ringtones, firmware URL — from the admin console. It replaces per-phone hand-configuration and is the recommended method for anything larger than a handful of desks.

Two transports

The phone needs to be told where to pull its config from. There are two ways to do that:

   RPS (Redirection and Provisioning Service)

   The phone boots, contacts the vendor's cloud redirection service, and is redirected to Dromlik's provisioning URL. Nothing to configure on the local network — the phone just needs internet access. See PnP auto provisioning.

2. 2

   DHCP option 66

   Your DHCP server hands out the Dromlik provisioning URL in option 66. The phone reads it on boot and provisions. Use this when the phone doesn't support RPS. See DHCP option 66.

Typical flow

1. 1

   Add the phone in Dromlik

   Go to Auto Provisioning → Add, enter the phone's MAC address, and assign it to an extension. Dromlik generates the config bundle.

2. 2

   Boot the phone on the network

   Plug the phone into a network with DHCP. It reaches out to RPS or reads option 66 and pulls its config.

3. 3

   Verify registration

   The phone reboots once, registers its extension, and appears as Online under Extension. Test a call in and out.
