IP phone configuration overview

Last updated: 2026-07-15

Dromlik supports three ways to connect an IP phone to the PBX. Pick the one that matches your fleet, then follow the linked step-by-step page.

MethodWhen to use it
Auto provisioningRolling out many identical phones. Applies preferences, codecs, and extension registration in one push, and lets you manage phones centrally from Dromlik.
Manual provisioningPhones that don't support RPS redirection. You paste a provisioning URL into the phone's web UI once and the phone pulls its config from Dromlik.
Manual registrationAny standard SIP phone. You enter the extension credentials and PBX address directly on the phone. No central management.

Auto provisioning transport

Two transports are available for auto provisioning:

  • RPS (Redirection and Provisioning Service). The phone boots, contacts the vendor's redirection service, and is pointed to Dromlik. No LAN configuration needed.
  • DHCP option 66. Your local DHCP server hands out the Dromlik provisioning URL. Use this when phones don't support RPS.

Manual registration

Register an extension on a phone by entering the SIP credentials and PBX address in the phone's web interface. This works with any SIP-compliant phone but does not give you central management, remote firmware upgrades, or provisioned function keys.
