Create your first call flow
Last updated: 2026-08-19
This walkthrough builds a working main-number flow: a greeting, a business-hours check, a two-option menu, and a voicemail fallback after hours.
Steps
- 1
Create the call flow
Go to Call Features > Call Flow and click Add. Name it Main line, choose From scratch, and click Save.
- 2
Set the initial action
The canvas opens with an Initial Action node. Leave it as the entry point — this is where every inbound call arrives.
- 3
Add a Business Hours check
Drag a Business Hours component onto the canvas and connect it to Initial Action. Select the business-hours profile to evaluate. It produces separate branches for in-hours, out-of-hours, and holidays.
- 4
Play a greeting
On the in-hours branch, add a Prompt component and pick your welcome recording.
- 5
Add a menu
Connect a Menu component after the prompt. Define key 1 for Sales and key 2 for Support, and set a 5-second timeout with two retries.
- 6
Route each key
Add a Transfer component to each key branch and select the matching queue or ring group.
- 7
Handle after hours
On the out-of-hours and holiday branches, add a Prompt with your closed message, then a Transfer to the shared voicemail box.
- 8
Save and validate
Click Save, then Validate. Fix any node reported as unconnected or missing a destination.
- 9
Point a number at the flow
Go to Call Control > Inbound Route, edit the route for your main number, and set the destination to Call Flow > Main line.
