Update settings for an AI Receptionist

Last updated: 2026-05-15

Update the general settings of an AI Receptionist — its name, the DID it answers, the language and voice profile, and the call-handling defaults — so it keeps up with how your business actually operates.

Prerequisites

If you want external callers to reach the receptionist directly on a number, you've already configured DIDs on the trunk that owns that number.

Open the Settings tab

  1. 1

    Open the receptionist

Go to AI → AI Receptionist and click the receptionist you want to edit.

  2. 2

    Switch to Settings

The Settings tab is grouped into Basic, Voice, Call Handling, and Advanced.

Settings reference

Basic

  • Name — internal label for the receptionist; shown in CDR and reports.
  • Direct DID — one or more DID numbers (already mapped to a trunk) that ring this receptionist directly.
  • Extension number — internal number staff can dial to reach the receptionist.

Voice

  • Default language — the language the greeting is spoken in. Other languages are still detected automatically.
  • Voice profile — pick from the Drömlik voice library.
  • Speech rate — slow, normal, or fast.

Call handling

  • Max call duration — hard cap (in minutes) on a single AI conversation.
  • Inactivity timeout — how many seconds of silence before the receptionist prompts the caller or hangs up.
  • On failure — what to do when the AI cannot complete the call (transfer to an operator, send to voicemail, hang up).
