Create an extension
Last updated: 2026-05-01
When a new person joins your organisation, you give them an extension. The extension is their identity in Drömlik — it carries their name, their direct dial number, and the permissions they need to make and receive calls.
Before you begin
You'll need:
- Administrator access to your Drömlik account
- The new user's full name and email address
- A free extension number (Drömlik suggests the next available one)
Steps
- 1
Open the Extensions page
Sign in to the Drömlik admin console and go to Extension in the left sidebar. The page shows every existing extension in your account.
- 2
Click Add
In the top-right of the Extensions page, click Add. A configuration panel slides in from the right.
- 3
Fill in the basic details
Enter the user's information: first/last name, email, extension number, and optional mobile number.
- 4
Choose the user role
Pick the role that matches the user's responsibilities: User, Supervisor, or Administrator. You can change the role later.
- 5
Configure presence and features (optional)
Switch to the Features tab to set defaults for voicemail, call recording, call forwarding, and do-not-disturb.
- 6
Save
Click Save. Drömlik creates the extension and sends the user a welcome email with sign-in instructions and a link to download the Drömlik App.
What the user receives
After you save, the user gets an email titled "Welcome to Drömlik" containing:
- Their extension number
- A one-time link to set a password
- Download links for the Drömlik App on desktop, web, and mobile
- A short guide to their first sign-in
Configuration reference
| Setting | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Voicemail | On | Callers can leave a message when the user doesn't answer. |
| Voicemail-to-email | Off | Sends voicemail audio + transcription to email. Recommended. |
| Call recording | Off | When on, Drömlik records calls to/from this extension. |
| Call forwarding (always) | Off | Forwards all calls to a chosen number or extension. |
| Ring timeout | 20 seconds | How long Drömlik rings before giving up. |
| Do not disturb | Off | When on, all calls go straight to voicemail. |
Troubleshooting
The user didn't receive the welcome email. Check spam first. If not there, verify the email on the extension's profile and resend the welcome email from the action menu.
Drömlik says the extension number is in use. Pick a different number.
The user can sign in but can't make calls. Check that the extension is assigned to an outbound route that has trunk permission.
