Install on a physical server

A physical install runs Dromlik on your own server hardware — a Dell EMC rack server in a data centre, a Mini PC in a wiring closet, or any x86-64 machine that meets the Server requirements.

Before you begin

• Download the Dromlik ISO (Auto-install for a quick default partition, or Manual-install if you want to lay out disks yourself).
• Write the ISO to a USB stick with balenaEtcher, Rufus, or dd.
• Confirm the server has a wired network connection to a switch that reaches your voice VLAN.

Steps

   Boot from USB

   Insert the USB stick, power on the server, and select the USB drive from the boot menu. Enable UEFI if the server supports it.

   Choose the install target

   Pick the internal SSD as the install disk. For servers with two disks, mirror them at the hardware RAID controller (RAID 1) before you boot the installer.

   Run the installer

   Follow the on-screen prompts. The installer partitions the disk, installs Ubuntu plus the Dromlik packages, and sets up systemd services.

   Remove the USB and reboot

   When the installer prompts, remove the USB stick and let the server reboot into Dromlik.

   Configure networking

   Sign in at the local console with the default credentials, set a static IP (a phone system should never rely on DHCP), and verify DNS resolution.

   Continue to activation

   Open https://<server-ip>:8088 from a workstation and follow Activate and initial setup.
